Policies, Safety and Care

The course will provide the opportunity for teachers to review the connection between good policy that is well applied, the safety and care of students, and their learning. Historical contexts leading to current regulatory requirements will be introduced to assist teachers to see the importance of legislative and school-based requirements, as expressed through policies and their attendant normal procedures, with reference to student safety and care. Participants will then have opportunity to review how to improve implementation of the wellbeing and safety policies from their schools into their setting. They will have opportunity gain greater understanding of the links between policies and classroom practices, to have more confidence and competency in implementing wellbeing and safety routines, rather than treating these policies with ‘dismissive annoyance’.
